We should seek to satisfy God in everything since we believe in Him. The Bible says, “And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not to men” (Col 3:23). This sentence tells us God’s requirement: Do things before God and accept His inspection; do not be subject to the constraints of people, events, or things and do not do things before men. In this way, our hearts can be set aright and we can easily receive God’s blessings and guidance. The Pharisees always purposely prayed in intersections so that everyone could see them. They focused on doing things before men, yet had no knowledge of God and nailed the incarnate God to the cross. This shows that outward practices are not important, seeking to satisfy God in everything and living before God is of the utmost importance. After believing in the Lord, we were forgiven of sins, but it is undeniable that we still often go against the teachings of the Lord and follow the lusts of the flesh and commit sins, such as telling lies, deceiving, and cheating. It’s very difficult for us to escape the cycle of sinning and confessing. We never manage to shake off the shackles and restrictions of our sin. The Lord Jesus said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, Whoever commits sin is the servant of sin. And the servant stays not in the house for ever: but the Son stays ever” (John 8:34–35). From these words, we can see that those who often sin cannot enter the kingdom of God. So how can we break free from the bondage of sin, achieve purification, and enter the kingdom of heaven?
