Is it very important to fear God? Yes, very important. It relates to mankind’s attitude toward God. If we have a heart that fears God, we will seek God’s will in everything and do it according to God’s requirements. Take Job, he feared God and shunned evil. He hated his children’s feasting, so he always prayed and gave sacrifice for them. Moreover, he stood testimony satisfying God when he was tempted by Satan. After believing in the Lord, we were forgiven of sins, but it is undeniable that we still often go against the teachings of the Lord and follow the lusts of the flesh and commit sins, such as telling lies, deceiving, and cheating. It’s very difficult for us to escape the cycle of sinning and confessing. We never manage to shake off the shackles and restrictions of our sin. The Lord Jesus said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, Whoever commits sin is the servant of sin. And the servant stays not in the house for ever: but the Son stays ever” (John 8:34–35). From these words, we can see that those who often sin cannot enter the kingdom of God. So how can we break free from the bondage of sin, achieve purification, and enter the kingdom of heaven?
